    So long, Fish

    May 20th, 2009

Cross-posted from www.bobgoyetche.com, sorry if you already read this….

Fish the cat, originally uploaded by Bob Goyetche.

One of the first things I remember about my wife Cat is that when we met years ago, she told me she had a cat named “Fish”. I found that to be a great name for a cat, and it always seemed no other named would have worked for him. Although I wouldn’t describe myself as a “cat person”, he grew on me, and he became a big part of the family Cathy and I put together.

If you are/were a CatFish Show listener, this is the “Fish” part of the show title – Possibly Canada’s first podcasting cat, and almost certainly the first one to have a podcast named after him.

Recently, he just didn’t seem like himself and seemed to be slowing down. Some blood work confirmed that he had severe diabetes, and perhaps it could be controlled, but it would involve multiple injections per day.

Being Cathy’s buddy, the heavy decision came to her. Of course, the natural reaction is to want to do everything to keep our friends around longer. In the end, she chose not to put her friend through more suffering, and we’ll accompany Fish on the final journey later today.

Of course we’ll all miss the extra-toed radio-active cat, but my love loses a special friend today, and for that my heart breaks.

    Godspeed Fish, and thanks.

    Our visit to Parc Safari!

    October 15th, 2008

    Hi

We went to Parc Safari this weekend – it was the last weekend for the year and we had such a wonderful time.

    Beast with BIG horns

The weather was fantastic, it got to about 17 degrees Celcius – so just a light jacket or sweater.

The colours from the trees were magnificent and there was barely anyone there.

This place is usually really busy during the summer – the driving safari is usually bumper to bumper, but we had almost no traffic – just a bit near the big horn beasts cause there was a film crew there for some french reality show (I don’t know the show) – so we did a u-turn and did it over again (it was at the end of the day, so alot of the animals were lying down)

We brought a picnic lunch (peanut butter and Nutella sandwiches) and just had a great family day!

So check out my Flickr page for more great shots.

    Thanks

    Six Random things about Me!

    September 7th, 2008

Well, it would seem people want to know about me – I have been tagged by Stevie Z , Katherine to get me blogging! and Scarborough Dude
Let’s see if anyone else is still paying attention to this site! (prove it by postig)

    1. I am still alive, living with my Husband and still raising a kid :-)
    2. My life if far too focused on our Son – giving me little time for Me.
    3. My Passion is riding Horses – riding fills my soul and keeps me centered (I have not ridden for about 5 years and am feeling quite empty)
    4. I am the youngest of 4
    5. I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis during my pregancy (show #50) and have no sign of the disease now :-)
    6. I have broken my nose 3 times :-)

I think those were all pretty random!

Now I have to bother 6 people and tag them – hummmm…….

    Matt from Digital Detroit Radio

    Chris from Kaflooey

Tim Coyne from Hollywood Podcast (who I met at PAB)

Andrea from Just One More Book

    Vivian from the Clip Podcast

    and… Nico!
And, as promised, The Rules Of The Tag:

    1. Link to the person who tagged you.
    2. Post the rules on the blog.
    3. Write six random things about yourself.
    4. Tag six people at the end of your post.
    5. Let each person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog(or sending an e-mail).
    6. Let the tagger know when your entry is up.

Wow, that took way longer than I thought it would!  I had to have the girl factor in just to even it out a bit!
